Mto wa Mbu translates from Swahili  as River of Mosquitoes and it certainly is an interesting little village. It is a great place to meet people of different cultures, to drink the locally brewed beer and to sample some of the local cuisine.

This little town positively bustles with a mix of cultures from around Tanzania. As a local agricultural hub, the town is famous for its crops of rice and the distinctive red bananas or ndizi for which Tanzania is known. A half-day tour of the town in the company of a local guide gives travellers the opportunity to interact with local farmers, as well as artisans, craftsmen and painters.
