Rwanda is a fascinating country with a tragic past. A visit Rwanda would not be complete without a trip to the moving Genocide Memorial, a reminder of the brutal genocide that occurred in the recent past when more than a million people, primarily from the minority Tutsi ethnic group were brutally slaughtered over a 100 day period. A lot has been done to ensure that there will never be a repeat of the atrocities but it is hard to visit the beautiful Rwanda and not acknowledge the devastation that was wrought and to pay tribute to the victims. Make a plan to visit the memorial - it is sobering but well worth the visit.
