How They Dazzle Us

Phinda Private Game Reserve in northern Kwazulu Natal was established in 1991 on reclaimed farmland. The name means, "return to the wild" and it was founded with the purpose of offering extraordinary guest experiences whilst exposing and educating people about the protection of Africa’s greatest assets, it’s wildlife. The African landscape, wildlife and people are interwoven in the beautiful and unique brilliance of the &Beyond Phinda Zuka Lodge. This Landing’s architecture is a continuation of its environment, the natural colours fusing seamlessly with its location. The indigenous Zulu culture is combined with the warm, homey classic interior decorating.

Incorporating sustainability into every aspect of &Beyond Phinda, your time here will be rich with experiences, adventures and learnings. The Zuka Lodge has only four bush cottages, keeping it intimate and exclusive. With dedicated staff, guides, a chef and butler, you will be treated with the greatest level of hospitality, as is the African way. From the deck you have a private watering hole where you wake to harmonious and cheerful chirps of birds and animals that come to quench their thirst in the lazy sunny afternoons. Close to the Indian Ocean, take time to plan your experience at your own pace and pleasure with a wide variety of activities to choose from on both land and sea.

Their Sustainable Superpower

Part of the greater &Beyond impact strategy, Phinda has aligned with the focus on land/ocean, wildlife and people. With conservation practices that support the protection of the habitats and animals, you can take part in helping the vets do their work. A wonderful story, Nkomo School had 100 pupils and were taught without roofs overhead or school desks to sit and learn. With Africa Foundation and Phinda, 12 classrooms were built and now around 900 students have a learning sanctuary to attend. Alongside the standard education offered, &Beyond has helped with HIV/AIDS programmes, a centre for orphaned and vulnerable children and clinics.
