How They Dazzle Us

Bordering the world-famous Kruger National Park, the &Beyond Tengile River Lodge is situated on an idyllic position on the Sand River as it curves through the Sabi Sands Game Reserve. Because its boundary with Kruger is unfenced, the wildlife is prolific and with a well-established bio-diversity. Even with the free flow of nature, the Sabi Sands still offers the exclusivity and extravagance of a private reserve. Sabi Sands was founded by a group of families, now almost four generations ago, who wanted to support the conservation of Africa’s most treasured asset, it’s animals.

Why We Love Them

Tengile River Lodge is designed to show off its views, the lodge has a spectacular layout with each position boasting a private lookout of the river. Large glass windows allow for natural light to gently filter in, but it’s temperature-controlled so you can enjoy fresh cool times on a hot summer’s days. The wooden finishes and natural colours bring a richness to the contemporary yet classic décor. Offering twice-daily game drives, you can enjoy bush coffees or cocktails on your drive to welcome the first warm rays of sunshine or cheers to the sunset. With experienced guides, you can also take the bush on foot and take time to appreciate the aspects of the habitats that go amiss on a drive.

Their Sustainable Superpower

A thread throughout its existence, sustainability is at the very core of Tengile River Lodge. Less obvious indications are the locally sourced textiles, pottery and artwork. Sabi Sands was actively established to support conservation, it prides itself in its successful protection of the environment and its animals, with specific focus on endangered or rare animals such as the black rhino. The ecological footprint is also reduced to an absolute minimum with thermal efficiencies to reduce energy consumption. Involved in the community, Tengile River Lodge supports Lillydale home-based care centre which is an HIV/AIDS clinic that administers clinical help and counselling support to those in need. They also have food gardens that provide nutrient rich vegetables to the community and to patients who come to the clinic.
