How They Dazzle Us
It might have been the stars that did it; perhaps it was the tranquility and the sense of being at peace with the world that the team at this incredible Landing have created; or maybe it was the ability to reach back into the past and move where our ancestors did tens of thousand's years ago. This remarkable Landing is steeped in history and wrapped in style. All the modern luxuries blended with the timelessness of rock-art and mountains. It is a wonderful getaway just a few hours outside of Cape Town.

Named by none other than National Geographic on their list of Unique Lodges of the World, this Landing is an ecological oasis and a magical wilderness retreat among open plains, sandstone formations and ancient bush art sites dating back millennia. By South African standards where safaris are big business, this Landing is located in a somewhat unfashionable area, but the reality is, that's why we love it. Getting out into nature should not be about jostling for positions at a water- hole and at Bushmans Kloof that will never be a concern. The National Geographic award comes off the back of the Landings dedication to preserving the planet’s natural and cultural heritage. They serve as a steward for more than 130 cave sites painted by the indigenous San people, and they actively work to ensure that these expressive murals will tell the story of the land’s original inhabitants for generations to come.

Aside from their work preserving and caring for the fantastic rock art in the area, efforts that have helped them earn the distinction of a Grade 1 South African National Heritage Site, the team at Bushmans Kloof also do great work with the local people and wildlife. They are notably involved in the protection of the endangered Mountain Zebra and they have shown their commitment to sustainable protection of the indigenous animals by bringing in seven Anatolian Shepherd dogs to act as livestock guardian dogs and safeguard the local population of Cape Leopards.
