How They Dazzle Us
There is a lot to say about this stunning old Landing, but there is one thing that stands out more than the rest and that is its air of history and majesty. The E&O as it is known was founded in 1885 by the Armenian Sarkies brother, the quartet of hoteliers who would later go on to open Raffles in Singapore and The Stand in Rangoon. The E&O was their blue print and it oozes old-school colonial charm and warmth and more history than you can fit into a textbook.

Why We Love Them
Situated right on the sea the E&O is almost the ideal combination of luxury and nature. Built well over a century ago, the hotel has had a long time to merge with the adjacent ocean. It is unlikely that sustainable and ecological practices were employed when the hotel was built but the management have moved with the times and now do their very best to maximise their location and proximity to the ocean.

This Landing has always been a positive force for good in the region and it continues to be so through its smart yet subtle use of sustainable and ethical practices. Through partnerships with local colleges they are training local staff and initiating them into the E&O way. They are smart with their use of water and they are constantly looking at ways to build on their historic foundations with new and progressive initiatives to continue doing good for the region with which they have become synonymous.
