Compared to South America, Africa might not be a place that is renowned for its coffee, but Kenya and Tanzania have been in the coffee game for a long time. In many ways this Landing is a tribute to an industry that for a long time has played second-fiddle to tourism. And while it is undoubtedly catering for safari-goers, it is also not shy to doff the cap to its history and the industry that made it what it was long before tourists started flocking to the area to see the big five. With an enclosed and intimate swimming pool, a popular garden terrace, and acres of lush coffee plantation, Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge encourages exploration and discovery at every turn. From the industrious coffee pickers gathering in the harvest to the aromas of the morning brew emanating from the main Plantation House as breakfast is being prepared, this Landing is full of sensory experiences that revitalize the body and soul for the adventures and excitement that lie ahead.

The team behind the Elewana Brand who run and manage this wonderful Landing have gone all out to reduce their carbon footprint. With a strong belief in the power of conservation they do their best to promote this, with the communities they work with, the staff and of course the guests as well. You don’t have to look hard to notice how their environmental and social philosophy gently weaves itself through your safari experience. Shanga is a self-sustaining social enterprise based in the grounds of Elewana Arusha Coffee Lodge, which runs an interactive creative workshop employing people with disabilities to create beautiful products. All visitors to Shanga are invited to take a free interactive tour to meet the staff, see their work and participate in fun free activities. Throughout the tour, you are enthusiastically greeted with big, warm smiles and greetings in sign language, Swahili and English. Very quickly previous stereotypes are forgotten as “Ability” is the catchphrase used. The Land & Life Foundation undertakes the corporate social responsibilities of The Elewana Collection, working with communities and conservation projects in the surrounding areas of the properties. Land & Life not only supports local communities and educates the next generation of conservationists but also helps to preserve the wildlife, habitats and environment of these important ecosystems. With all operational costs covered by Elewana, 100% of every single donation goes straight to benefiting communities, schools and wildlife. Additionally, a portion of each Elewana guest reservation results in a contribution to support Land & Life. All of Elewana’s camps and lodges have been designed to have as little impact as possible on their surrounds with many camps employing state-of-the-art power systems, with solar and power-storage technology to ensure minimal emissions and fuel use.
