How They Dazzle Us
As enjoyable as game viewing is, it can be quite tough work – hours each day in the back of a Land Rover binoculars pinned to your eyes scanning the horizon in the heat of the day. Well, this is still an option at Elewana Sand River Masai Mara, although if you would prefer to watch the incredible wildebeest migration from the comfort of your balcony you can do that too. Yip, we thought you might fancy that as an option. It is comfortable in the extreme while in turn the migration is an incredible sight to behold – something that is better seen than described.

Located on a secluded and picturesque site on the banks of the river from which it takes its name, this Landing does well to replicate the heyday of the exclusive permanent tented safari camps of the late 1920’s. The detail in each tent is extraordinary with the fixtures and furnishings perfectly mirroring this period, reminding all who visit of those countless Hollywood movies that have paid homage to a classic era of African adventure. With its year-round abundance of game Elewana Sand River Masai Mara is an ideal destination, at any time of the year. The National Reserve is best known for its large concentrations of big cats, such as leopard, cheetah and, of course, lion. The dramatic arrival of the Annual Migration only adds to what is an already abundant resident wildlife that awaits discovery.

With a Gold eco-Rating from Kenyan Tourism you know that this Landing is pulling out all the stops to set the standard in sustainable tourism. Working closely with the local community and with a strong focus on conservation this is a team whose attitude towards doing the right thing can be felt in touch points through the camp. This is low-impact tourism at its best and the fact that the Landing consists of just 16 tents shows that they are more concerned about long-term sustainability rather than short-term profits.
