How They Dazzle Us

Surrounded by towering mountains that are covered with snow in winter, this remarkable family owned and run hotel is steeped in history and has been operating for more than 500 years. The sense of tradition and history are everywhere but this is not a tired and dusty old venue, it’s efficient and charming and an incredible place to relax and enjoy time with the entire family.

Why We Love Them

While the venue might be old and legendary, its attitudes are fresh and modern. In the same way that island destinations are concerned by global warming and rising sea levels, so too are alpine regions focussed on glacial melt and diminishing snow falls. This old-school Landing has moved with the times to actively promote ecological best practice while at the same time losing none of its tradition or charm. Using gameification to promote awareness of the problem guests can’t fail to sit up and take notice of the issues – and the solutions.

Their Sustainable Superpower

At this amazing Landing every guest does a Climate Check-In and participates in their climate survey. Results show that on average STERN-Guests produce 7.59kg of carbon dioxide per night. In an international ranking this corresponds to climate category A+++. However, even mentioned emissions are compensated for by supporting a climate protection project in the developing world and fostering the development of regional climate protection. A stay at STERN consequently does not put any strain to our climate meaning guests get to enjoy their holidays with a good feeling.
