How They Dazzle Us

The word Finolhu translates into English as 'sandbank' and that is exactly what the Landing is. A series of strips of sand that stand above the crystal clear water, surrounded by corals and seemingly endless horizons. It is a stunning location that stretches across four islands and which boasts about two kilometres worth of beach. At Finolhu you are quite literally vacationing on a sandbank, you are surrounded by water. It is a very special place and hardly a surprise that superstars like Cara Delivingne and Paris Hilton have chosen this Landing as the place to spend their time away.

Why We Love Them

There are some experiences that no matter what, you will never forget. This is the landing that goes all out to create these experiences for its guests. Imagine sitting on the terrace of your private, over-water villa at sunset and a manta ray swims by. Or snorkelling in the Indian Ocean with curious turtles or dolphins. At this Landing you stay on the edge of a very distinctive world. At the Baa Atoll – which is protected by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve – the colours of the corals and fish unfold their own very special magic. Finolhu is a place of dreams, both on the beach and in the water.

Their Sustainable Superpower

This wonderful Landing is based in a UNESCO-protected biosphere reserve which brings with it all sorts of obligations and considerations. The management team here are very conscious that they need to protect what sustains them and to this end they are to a great extent completely self-sufficient. They produce their own drinking water through osmosis. There is no single-use plastic on the island. The landing employs its own resident marine biologist and they are also partnered with the Parley for the Oceans Organization which is heavily focussed on removing plastics from the sea.
