How They Dazzle Us
On a continent of magnificent landscapes and in a country of incredible diversity and splendour, somehow the Drakensberg Mountains are not talked about as often as they should be. Quite simply they are stunning. Towering and majestic and challenging somehow the Drakensberg fails to generate the love and attention that it should in a country that boasts attractions like Kruger Park, Table Mountain and The Garden Route. But the Drakensberg are dazzling and this wonderful Landing plays to the majesty of the mountains with its sensational views, its incredible comfort and a huge array of activities available for both the adventurous and those who just want to spoil and indulge themselves.

Why We Love Them
Owner run and managed always sounds good. But far too often places become too big and impersonal for the owners to really be able to stamp their personality on things in the front of house. This is certainly not the case at Qambathi where owners Nadia and Stephen are perfect hosts, going all out to make sure that their guests have the best possible stay. They are present but not intrusive. They are warm but not invasive. It is rare to find such warmth and attention to detail from the owners of a luxury lodge but this husband and wife couple nail it and we loved it.

Their Sustainable Superpower
The Qambathi team do plenty of good in the sustainable space, but probably their biggest win is in their support of FREEME Wildlife. FREEME Wildlife is a centre for sick, injured, or orphaned wildlife. Its rehabilitation facility is equipped for the medical treatment and care of patients, with the goal of successfully rehabilitating them back into their natural environments. Not only does Qambathi give a percentage of its monthly profits to FREEME, it is also a site for the release of rehabilitated animals back into nature. By visiting this Landing you are already supporting the FREEME project, potentially getting to view some of the rescued animals as you explore the mountainside is an equally exciting prospect.
