How They Dazzle Us

It is really hard to look past a steeped history and this Landing has plenty of that. Having started out life as a farm in the 17th Century, it has undergone many changes and incarnations on its way to establishing itself as one of Cape Town's most prestigious and award-winning hotels. In recent years it has won a host of awards covering a range of areas but being named at number 23 on Conde Naste Traveler's list of top 30 Hotels in Africa is probably the pick of the bunch.

Why We Love Them

Cape Town is one of the finest cities in the world to visit. It is a destination on many a bucket-list and this hotel is a perfect place to stay for those making the trip to the city of Table Mountain and Robben Island. What stands out with this Landing is that while it is just 15 minutes from the centre of the bustling and vibrant city, it is still an oasis of quiet and tranquillity. Amazing gardens, outstanding food and mountain views that rival the best of anywhere in the world. All this within the confines of a building that boasts 400 years of history. It is a very special place.

What really strikes you about this Landing is their willingness and ability to work with the history. Given the age of the buildings they have done fantastically well to preserve the facilities and retain the ambience of an old South African winery. They have not turned this into a concrete monstrosity, instead they have preserved and enhanced the history and used it to create ambiance and character. Along the way they have obviously made the required tweaks and changes to ensure that they keep up-to-date with international best-practice in terms of energy saving and ethical tourism.
