The location of this Landing is incredible, not just the fact that it has exquisite views, but in terms of what experiences the hotel offers guests. Renowned as one of the best land based whale watching locations in the world, guests can spot whales breach and lobtail around Walker Bay from the comfort of the Birkenhead House front terrace. Shark cage diving excursions are another popular choice for guests, and includes a comprehensive educational experience on these misunderstood, majestic creatures. The wine list at Birkenhead House celebrates the best of South Africa’s wine from each of the main wine producing regions in the Western Cape. There is however a particular emphasis on the surrounding cool climate regions of Elgin, the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, Stanford and Elim which produce superb Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays and Sauvignon Blancs.

Birkenhead House also supports the local community, in particular the Masibulele Crèche which looks after about 150 children from infants to 5 years old.
