When it comes to watching whales from the land, Hermanus is globally regarded as the best place to do it. In short we are priveledged to be home to the best land-based whale watching in the world.

What secures us this claim. Obviously it is the proximity to the whales and the huge number that congregate in eth area. But it is also about the pathways along the cliff edge that allow you to explore this wild and beautiful Cape coastline. It is  the beaches themselves which are pristine, safe and easily accessible. Along Hermanus's famous cliff path you will find numerous information boards about the abundant marine life. The information focuses mainly on the Marine 5 - whales, sharks, dolphins, seals and penguins.

The best time for whale watching is from July to December but the optimum time seems to change a little each year.
