One of the staple weapons of the guerilla gardener is the seed ball. A mud or clay ball that contains indigenous seeds and a bit of compost and soil. The guerilla gardener simply throws the balls into the veld as they move around and when the rain comes the mud and clay slowly disintegrate and the seeds germinate. It is a great way to help restore degraded land to reintroduce indigenous plants into an area. Throwing the balls into the veld can also be turned into a game for the whole family. It is all part of the Cottars goal to ensure that guests can revel in the active participation of engaging with their surroundings.
