How They Dazzle Us

South Africa’s Karoo area is a harsh and weathered place. This semi-desert area is an isolated yet stunning part of the country and the team at Sanbona have gone all out to play to the strengths of the landscape in creating an incredible Landing. A spread of nine luxury tents, with private decks and heated Jacuzzis, are set in a horseshoe bend of a dry Karoo ravine. The lodge reflects the nomadic lifestyle of the Khoisan hunter-gatherers who once roamed this land.

The location of this Landing is hard to beat, nestled as it is in an isolated ravine that affords almost complete solitude and silence. Star-gazing at night is incredible while the sense of privacy and peace that is created is something truly special. All this in the very lap of luxury – the tents being beautifully equipped with all the trappings you would expect at a five star resort,including indoor and outdoor showers and private deck with spa bath.

As such they don't only focus on the ecological imperatives there is also a strong focus on the commercial and social integrity of the area as well. As such the team employs wildlife veterinarians, ecologists, conservation managers, security operatives and field staff to ensure that the wildlife, the landscape, the ancient rock art and the rare vegetation are all able to thrive alongside the local communities.
