How They Dazzle Us
Governors Mugie House is located on the incredible Mugie Conservancy, a private wildlife reserve in Laikipia comprised of almost 50’000 acres. Teeming with animals and boasting astounding views, the conservancy is also home to an array of impactful community and conservation programs. It is low impact tourism at its best with just eight stone cottages perched on a hill with sweeping views of the Laikipia landscape. Attention to detail is extraordinary and there are many wonderful features including an infinity pool, a nine-hole golf course and a waterhole set in front of Mugie House which attracts a variety of wildlife with a hide to offer some close encounters.

This isn’t just a great place to come and stay, it is a strategically located and considered conservancy designed to secure land for wildlife and to ensure that animal’s access routes between the Laikipia plateau, the Mathews Range and the Samburu lands to the north and east are kept open and undeveloped. As a result vast acacia-dotted savannahs, forests and scrubby bush are a haven to a multitude of wildlife in plentiful numbers. Animals that can be found here include key endemic northern Kenyan species such as Grevy’s Zebra, Jackson’s Hartebeest and Reticulated Giraffe.
