It is hard not to be awed by the birds that are found in the areas surrounding the lodge. Spend some time out walking in nature and there is a good chance that you will spot some of the most beautiful, and often rare, birds in Mozambique. This is a birders paradise for dedicated twitchers and amateurs alike.
The surrounding woodland areas and mangrove swamps ensure that there is a huge variety of birds seen daily. Sunset birding is best when birds fly in to roost: Ibo nests over 700 different bird species, 10 of these being threatened.
Some the birds that you should expect to see in the area include: Goliath Herons, Fish Eagles, Egrets, Flamingo’s and Pelicans, Sunbirds, Woodpeckers and Rollers.
