Come and meet our ancient family of tortoises: Pepe, Paris, Johnny and Jeanette. They are Aldabra giant tortoises are they are very large. The island has many of these wonderful creatures which can live for up to 200 years.
Our four old-timers can usually be located in teh area opposite the Dive Centre. They love getting visits from our guests. Make a plan to visit the tortoises with one of our staff as they can show you the individual characteristics and personality traits of each animal - they also know where to get their favourite food (apples).
These giant tortoises are indigenous to the Aldabra atoll (in the far south of Seychelles' territory) and typically live in herds on flat grasslands. They once faced extinction due to hunting and habitat destruction by 18th century sailors, but are now protected and live freely on many of Seychelles' outer islands.
