How They Dazzle Us
As the only private Landing within the borders of the Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park a visit to this Landing is steeped in history given that the reserve is the oldest proclaimed game reserve in Africa. It is a wonderful place with a fantastic history. Once set aside as hunting grounds of the Zulu Royal family it is also a place famed for its work in rhino conservation and as a haven for birders. A stunning location with incredible wildlife and the real opportunity to see highly endangered rhinoceros in the wild.

Why We Love Them
At Rhino Ridge the team are determined to live up to their name and showcase their rhinoceros population as effectively as possible. To this end they employ a number of rhino-whisperers, including the legendary ranger Nunu Jobe who is said to be able to get closer to rhino in the wild than anyone else. Journey with the guides as they create four-dimensional reconstructions of the wildlife activity which has taken place along your trail, from past, to present, to future. The trip is designed to ensure that you get to fully appreciate the beautiful scenery, delicately balanced ecosystem and its many bugs, smaller animals and plants from up close as you tread gently in this protected corner of Africa. Having the privilege to walk in the wild and learn more about life and nature from a man like Jobe is a potentially life-changing experience.

Their Sustainable Superpower
The biggest superpower of the Isibindi team is their authenticity. The founders both come from a strong conservation background and it was more than 25 years ago that they began with pioneering community conservation work, establishing one of South Africa's first lodges in a protected wilderness sanctuary with the local community as joint shareholders. Today Isibindi own a number of lodges and partner with many neighbouring communities. The goal is to ensure that there is a flow of benefits to the communities that border the wilderness areas so that the local people are motivated them to protect these resources. Neighbouring communities need to share in the flow of benefits as without this they have not only lost their ancestral lands but also access to its resources. Rest assured that when travelling with Isibindi you will be supporting a host of community projects that rely on the lodges you will be visiting, to flourish and improve people's lives.
