Riad Ana Yela is beautifully restored. It's over 300 years old but as recently as 15 years ago it was run down and lacking the air of charm and uniqueness that it's steeped in today. The route to this destination has been one of focus and investment in local craftsmen and artisans. Only traditional Moroccan craftsmen were employed. A renowned calligrapher hammered the story of Ana Yela in silver on the vast doors through the house. Every piece of furniture, every lamp, all the decorations, are individually handmade by Moroccan artisans - the focus on empowering the locals and showcasing their skills is extraordinary, and this focus is not only played out at the hotel but through their foundation as well, which aims to preserve the traditional skills.
