How They Dazzle Us

Incredible architecture is a feature of the Singita Landings and this phenomenally modern yet environmentally appropriate venue is probably the best of the lot. Inspired by the eagle nests that dot the cliffs on the banks of the N’wanetsi River where Singita Lebombo Lodge is situated, each of the 13 sophisticated loft-style suites is cleverly integrated into its wilderness setting, where everything defers to nature and airy spaces welcome the breath-taking surrounds inside. The glass walls and elegant finishes mean each suite is the essence of a modern romantic hideaway each with an elevated wooden viewing deck that allows guests to sleep outside under the stars.

Why We Love Them

When it comes to game reserves there is very little that can rival South Africa’s Kruger Park, a pristine habitat that is the size of Israel. It is huge and it teems with animals and amazing experiences and opportunities. And Singita Lebombo Lodge is set within the confines of this park on its own 33,000-acre private concession. What this means is that there is almost nothing that you can’t see: from endangered wild dog, pangolin and rhinoceros to the Big Five or birds and reptiles. It is a veritable paradise for game viewers. Singita is almost synonymous with the words sustainability, conservation and development. They are a team who work on multiple fronts to do good, so it can be hard to single out a single sustainable superpower. But in this case there is an obvious one to mention. In a country with extraordinarily high unemployment, the team at this Landing have created a community cooking class project. Singita’s long-term, broad community development goal is to assist the people that live in and around the reserves to thrive, both economically and socially. And through their cooking school they fulfil a real need in the community, as well as for the South African hospitality industry as a whole. Graduates of this school emerge with highly sought-after skills and strong employment prospects, while kitchens at Singita lodges and those further afield benefit from a pool of expertly-trained young chefs.
