Sumptuous luxury in the most desolate of locations, make this a very special Landing. The remote and stark South African Karoo is where Tilney Manor at Sanbona is found. In an area that is home to spectacular sunsets, undulating mountains and untouched nature for as far as the eye can see; this is a wonderful place to kick back, relax and get back in touch with yourself and your roots.

As much as this is an extremely luxurious Landing, it is the simple things that we loved the most. The outdoor shower with the views that go on for days, the rim-flow pool that makes you feel at one with nature, the experiences with the local wildlife and the majestic sunsets are the reasons why we would go back to this Landing as often as possible.

The team at this Landing have a very pragmatic vision. A major priority for the reserve has always been the re-introduction of species that once naturally roamed through the area. Although historical records are used, re-introducing species to their natural range must take into consideration the suitability and extent of the available habitat and the presence of potential competitors. Due to the change in vegetation type, some areas may no longer be suitable for the habitat requirements of certain species. It is a fine balance, but they are navigating it wisely, with the focus on long terms wins.
