Children under the age of 15 are not allowed to participate in the gorilla visits but to make up for this they are encouraged to go on the Golden Monkey Trek instead. Endemic to the Virunga Mountains range these curious and playful monkeys are an endangered species. Rwanda and Uganda are the only countries where visitors have the chance of trekking to see them up close and the walk is well worth the effort as the monkeys play and amuse themselves with games of chase for hours while guests sit back and watch. 

The walk to find the monkeys, who tend to occupy the lower slopes of the mountain, is quite relaxed and easy.
