How They Dazzle Us

Situated in a truly stunning location on the edge of the Volcanoes National Park, guests at this Landing find themselves in the foothills of the mighty Virungas, the chain of 15,000 foot volcanoes which stretch through Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Guests at Sabyinyo have wonderful views of the volcanoes and the verdant surrounding countryside.

Why We Love Them

People visit Rwanda for a number of reasons, but without a doubt the crown jewel from a tourist perspective is the gorillas. The Landing is located close to the headquarters of Volcanoes National Park from where clients trek on foot to see the gorillas. These Mountain Gorillas, of which there are only about 1000 left in the wild, are simply fascinating to watch. So much like humans, they are huge yet gentle, tough yet sensitive. Spending time in their presence is an incredible, and dare we say it, a life changing encounter. A permit is required to see the gorillas and there are a limited number available each day. The Landing will check in advance to make sure that there is permit availability for you for intended dates.

Their Sustainable Superpower

The key driving philosophy behind all Governors' activity is that the local community need to benefit from the proceeds and revenues that are generated by tourism. With this in mind Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is Rwanda’s ﬁrst ever community owned lodge. Despite being built and operated by Governors’ Camp Collection the Landing's ownership rests with a Community Trust which uses rentals and fees from the lodge to drive socio-economic and conservation initiatives in the communities that reside adjacent to the National Park.
