Their Sustainable Superpower

Time for a drum roll please… The United Nations declared 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development. Nothing too incredible there. But off the back of this Slovenia went on to achieve an eye-opening 96 out of 100 detailed sustainability indicators in a UN study, meaning that the UN were able to name Slovenia as the world’s most sustainable country. Added to this fantastic accolade, their capital Ljubljana was, in 2016, named Europe’s Greenest Capital by the European Union.

Slovenia is an adventurers paradise with all sorts of activities on offer. As such the ideal time to visit depends on what it is that you are looking to do while there. Skiing is best from to December to March, white-water rafting is at its best in May, while activities like cycling, climbing and hiking are best enjoyed in the warm summer months between May and September.
