Malaysia’s incredible rain forests are without a doubt its most dazzling feature. Their density and diversity of plant and animal life are incredible so it is sad that the forests are being felled at an alarming rate. They are worth seeing and experiencing before they are completely gone.

Their Sustainable Superpower
Malaysia has a lot to do to get to where it wants to be. While it has pledged environmental sustainability efforts sadly it has fallen short in the areas of effective policy and enforcement. The decimation of the rainforest is a pressing environmental issue with estimates suggesting that between 1990 and 2005, deforestation saw the forests shrink by almost 7%.

Unique Foods
Look out for apam balik a kind of hybrid between a pancake and an omelette it contains sugar, peanuts and corn and is sweet and tasty and always slightly different depending where you get it. Also look out for the stinky yet tasty durian. You will know when you are close to a durian because you will smell it (you might think you are standing next to an open sewer or that you have something on your shoe), but if you can get past the smell it is reportedly very tasty – even if it does have a negative effect on your breath.
