How They Dazzle Us
Zambia has a lot to offer but its best feature is the Zambezi River and the Victoria Falls. The Zambezi is impressive in its own right, replete with wildlife like hippopotamus and crocodiles and with game reserves on its abundant shores, but The Victoria Falls are next level. Huge and powerful and towering and loud, you can view them from both Zambia and Zimbabwe, but regardless of where you happen to be, they make for impressive viewing.

The Zambian people are some of the nicest people you will encounter anywhere in the world. In a country that maybe doesn’t get as much of the tourism pie as some of its neighbours and near neighbours, the people go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home. Their Sustainable Superpower
The Zambian government are very aware of the tourism and ecological potential of their country and as such they are very aware of what needs to be done to ensure that the country and its people prosper from them. At a 2017 conference on Sustainable Tourism in the capital Lusaka, President Lungu stressed the importance of tourism in contributing to local development, stating that tourism is a key factor to helping the country achieve the Sustainable Development Goals it has set itself. These include protecting, restoring and promoting sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainable management of forests, the combat of desertification, and halting and reversal of land degradation and biodiversity loss.

Best Time to Visit
Zambia is a summer rainfall nation which means its heavy rain and thus its most lush vegetation occurs from December to April. That means the best time for game viewing is winter with May through October described as the best times to visit. It does get very hot and humid in September and October though, so be warned.

Unique Foods
Zambians are very partial to fish dishes and most restaurants will offer bream or Nile Perch which are caught in The Zambezi, Kafue and Luapula rivers. Also look out for the stiff, maize-based Nshima porridge that is a staple in the rural areas.
