The Maldives are pretty balmy all year round with average temperatures never dropping too low or rising to uncomfortably high levels. The monsoon season is from May to October, with the chance of the worst weather in June. The best time to visit the Maldives is therefore between November and April.

Coconuts are a common staple with most dishes and you can expect to find them dried and grated, as coconut oil or coconut milk.
