Why We Love Them

It is quite rightly regarded as one of the Seven Wonders of the World and it is incredible. A towering, flat topped mountain, more than a kilometre high, in the middle of the city. It overlooks Robben Island, where Mandela was kept prisoner and one of the most picturesque cities anywhere in the world. It is hard not to love.

Best Time to Visit

This depends on which part of the country you visit. Cape Town is best visited February through April, although it is also good, but windy from November. Inland places like Kruger Park and similar are best seen in the drier winter months from June to September. But overall South Africa is quite moderate and can be visited and enjoyed almost any time.

Unique Foods

South Africa is so big and varied it has a very wide range of interesting food. Biltong, which is the local dried meat is a must try. As are Walkie Talkies the township name for a dish comprising of chicken heads and feet. If you are in Durban you need to try a Bunny Chow while in Cape Town a Gatsby is a must.
